Bangor Tourist Information

Home to the longest High Street in Wales!

Bangor is a small coastal city located in Northern Gwynedd, located on the edge of, and offering splendid views of the Menai Strait. The city is easily accessed by road using either the main A55 Expressway or the A5 road, there are also regular train services stopping at cities train station.

Bangor is a university town, and so it should come as no surprise when I say there are plenty of pubs and bars to visit. The city also has an excellent range of places to eat from cafes and restaurants to coffee bars, sandwich shops and takeaways serving cuisines from around the world.

Bangor City Holiday Accommodation
The city boasts a thriving shopping scene, with a good range of high street retailers as well as local independent shops. The shops can be found in Deiniol and Menai shopping centres and along Bangor's main high street, reputed to be the longest high street in Wales.

For those who are looking for a pleasant, quiet escape, what could be better than a leisurely walk along Garth Pier, it's a Grade II listed structure which protrudes out into the Menai Strait, and at a length of 1,500 feet (460 m), it's the second-longest pier in Wales.

Overlooking the city, set in 120 acres is the renowned Bangor St Deiniol Golf Club. The 18-hole mature course offers golfers of all abilities a challenging round of golf, combined with panoramic views of Anglesey and Snowdonia.
