Cardigan Tourist Information

The gateway to the picturesque Teifi Valley

Cardigan is a bustling historic market town nestled neatly at the Southern end of Cardigan Bay, the town lies on the estuary of the River Teifi which borders the county of Ceredigion with Pembrokeshire.

Cardigan is the second largest town in the county, as such, it offers keen shoppers the chance to browse around various local independent shops ready to snap up a unique gift, or to buy something snazzy from one of the high street named retailers. The town provides plenty of eateries serving a range of cuisines, including mouth-watering Welsh lamb and beef and locally caught seafood.

Each year the town plays host to the 'Cardigan River and Food Festival', it showcases local produce and local independent food producers who are passionate about their products, festivalgoers can also enjoy lots of river events and entertainment as well as plenty of activities for the children.

River Teifi flows for 75 miles from the Cambrian Mountains, meandering its way down to the estuary in Cardigan where it joins the waters of Cardigan Bay. This river, especially around the town, offers some excellent fishing particularly for sewin (sea trout) and salmon.

About a ten-minute drive from the town is Cardigan Golf Club, here you test your skills on the club's 18-hole parkland/links course which is set on a scenic headland with stunning views out across Cardigan Bay.

In the same area on the headland overlooking the offshore nature reserve of Cardigan Island is Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, it's a truly unique farm park where you will find a range of farm and other animals, you can also see the marine wildlife which frequents the shores around Cardigan Bay, these aquatic mammals include bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals and harbour porpoises.
