Ferryside Tourist Information

Ferryside is a village nestled on the banks of the River Tywi, from the village it's about a ten-mile drive to the county town of Carmarthen and just under a four-mile dive to the town of Kidwelly.

Ferryside has a village store, cafe and a hotel which serves food.

The village of Ferryside has a sandy beach (Ferryside Beach) that's ideal for sitting in quiet contemplation whilst enjoying the magnificent views, unfortunately as the beach is located at the mouth of the River Tywi swimming is not advised due to strong currents. Fortunately Carmarthen Bay has a variety of beaches which allow for safe swimming, this includes the renowned Pembrey Beach (Cefn Sidan), a fabulous seven and a half mile stretch of fine golden sands.

Anglers will find a number of good fishing locations around Ferryside to fish for species like bass and flounder.

The well-preserved Kidwelly Castle is only a short ten-minute drive from Ferryside, now in the caring hands of CADW, it provides a fabulous visitor attraction for the whole family. As the castle is still very much intact it means there are plenty of rooms, little nooks and crannies and stairs to explore, along with spectacular views from the tower.
