Freshwater East Tourist Information

Freshwater East is a picturesque coastal village located on a cliff overlooking a sheltered bay, nestled within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Facilities in the village are limited to a welcoming pub that serves tasty home cooked food, all shopping requirements well catered for in the historic town of Pembroke, which is only a ten-minute drive away.

Freshwater East Beach is without a doubt the main attraction for the village. It's a perfect family-friendly clean beach with a wide expanse of golden sand, combined with safe bathing waters. Kids can run themselves ragged on the soft sand, or explore the rock pools, or enjoy a splash around in the fresh water stream which runs down to the sea.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path makes its way around the beautiful bay and past the village, offering walkers a pleasurable stroll in either direction.

Walking East along the coastal path
Heading East along the coastal path for a couple of miles will take walkers to the remote Swanlake Bay, which is home to Swanlake Bay Beach, here the low tide reveals a lovely sandy beach and some fantastic rock pools. The remote location of this beach means never gets busy, even during the busy summer months.

Walking West along the coastal path
Heading West along the coastal path will take walkers to Stackpole Quay, where they will find a lovely little harbour with a stony beach along with a welcoming tea room that serves hot and cold food and drinks. Suitably refreshed, a further ten-minute walk along the coastal path heads to Barafundle Bay where walkers are rewarded with a little piece of heaven in the shape of Barafundle Beach, a pristine stretch of golden sand with crystal clear waters lapping onto the shore. Although isolated and with no facilities, Barafundle Beach is ideal for family bathing.
