Knighton Tourist Information

Knighton is a pretty inland market town which straddles the England/Wales border, it is located almost nineteen miles from Llandrindod Wells and twenty-one miles from Newtown

The border town of Knighton has an eclectic mix of shops to browse around, along with plenty of eateries to choose from including tea rooms, cafes, traditional pubs, and restaurants.

At the Southern end of the town is Knighton Golf Club, a 9-hole parkland course that promises a challenging round of golf with uphill and downhill lies and spectacular views.

The picturesque countryside which surrounds Knighton lends itself perfectly for outdoor activities like walking and cycling. Cyclists will find mile upon mile of quiet country lanes to take to, including the 84-mile long 'Radnor Ring Cycle Route' which passes through the town. Just above the town on England's side of the border lies Kinsley Wood with a terrain that's well suited for mountain bikers. For something more exhilarating and challenging for mountain bikers, Hopton Woods in Shropshire provides the ideal location with plenty of jumps and fast downhill trails, and it's only about nine miles from Knighton.

Walkers will find the landscape around Knighton offers an idyllic setting with varying grades of walks to suit all abilities, from gentle strolls along local country lanes and pathways to trails with a bit of 'oomph' to them.

The town forms the meeting point of two renowned National Trails.
'The Offa's Dyke Path' - Knighton is home to the Offa's Dyke Centre where visitors are able to discover more about the Offa's Dyke, the town also tends to act as the half way point for this 177-mile long National Trail.
'Glyndwr's Way' - The town forms the start (or end) of the 135-mile long Glyndwr's Way National Trail that takes in a wide and varied terrain around water, through forests, open moorland and farmland ending up at Welshpool.

In 2011, Knighton was awarded the Walkers are Welcome status for making the area more accommodating to walkers.
