Llanrug is an inland village situated about three and a half miles from the royal town of Caernarfon to the West, the popular village of Llanberis which is nestled at the foot of Snowdon is just over four miles away to the Southeast.


Llanrug has a few shops and a couple of pubs serving food, the village can be reached by the busy A4086 road which connects Caernarfon to Llanberis as it heads off to join on to the main A5 road.

Tyddyn Mawr Golf Club is a 9-hole pay-and-play course set on undulating parkland, the Club welcomes golfers of all abilities including those who have just started to take up the game.

The river Seiont which makes its way around the village offers some excellent fishing for salmon, sea trout (sewin) and brown trout.

The area around Llanrug offers many opportunities for walkers with a variety of trails crisscrossing the landscape, the Lôn Las Peris walking and cycling route meanders its way through the village as it makes its way from Llanberis towards the town of Caernarfon, there is also the option to carry on further afield to the villages of Penisarwaun and Deiniolen. The Lôn Las Peris is just one of a number of the Lonydd Glas (Recreational Routes) network, these routes have been designed to offer walkers and cyclists traffic-free locations and quiet rural pathways around Gwynedd.
