Ruthin Tourist Information
Ruthin is a small historic inland market town in the Vale of Clwyd, it lies two miles from Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd village and eight miles from the market town of Denbigh.

St Peters Square is the hub of Ruthin
The shops in Ruthin are centred around St Peter’s Square, here you'll find characterful boutique style shops that sell most things you would need from food, clothes and footwear, books and soft furnishings to gifts, outdoor equipment, stationery and art equipment.

Fortunately, the atmosphere in Ruthin is not spoilt by big national chain fast food outlets, here instead you'll find plenty of welcoming independent restaurants, cafes, tea rooms, sandwich bars and traditional pubs. Between them all, the many varied eateries in Ruthin cover a variety of cuisines that can cater for most hunger needs.

St Peter’s Square is not just all about shopping, it's a real delight just to wander around and admire the many historical and listed buildings, in fact, St Peter's Square is considered to have more listed buildings than any other market town in North Wales. Located on Castle Street in Ruthin is Nantclwyd y Dre, it's a beautiful black-and-white exterior townhouse with seven rooms inside decorated in different era's in Ruthin's history, from 1435 to 1942, Nantclwyd y Dre is also famed as being the oldest timber-framed building in Wales.

In keeping with the history of the town is Ruthin Gaol, it's a fascinating heritage attraction and a purpose-built prison that takes you into the world of the prisoners of the Victorian era, it allows you to see first hand just what prisoners had to endure on daily basis in such a harsh prison system.

Being located in the Vale of Clwyd means there are many enjoyable walks on offer, along with a variety of mountain bike trails especially in the Clwyd Hills.
