Trawsfynydd is a traditional Welsh village which can be found in Snowdonia National Park, the village is located about ten miles from the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and roughly twelve and a half miles from Porthmadog.

There are a couple of shops in the village along with two pubs. Trawsfynydd can be reached by the A470 trunk road which runs alongside the village, there is also a local bus service that calls in a few times a day.

Trawsfynydd Lake
Trawsfynydd Lake is a rather impressive large man-made reservoir which offers a number of pursuits. Cyclists can enjoy a leisurely eight-mile bike ride around the lake, there are many fantastic walks in the area including a 4-5 hour amble around the lake, Trawsfynydd also has a good reputation for fishing with good stocks of rainbow and brown trout. Canoeist and kayakers are able to bring and use their own canoes and kayaks on the lake, or they may be hired from the centre on a half day or full day basis. The area around the lake including the oak woodlands is home to a wealth of flora and fauna including mosses, liverworts and lichens as well as rare birds and a variety of mammals, making it a great place for nature lovers to explore.
