Aberystwyth is a characterful seaside resort that lies on the West coast in Ceredigion, Mid Wales. The town is centred around its crescent shaped seafront which is aligned with colourful three, four and five storey Victorian hotels.

Shopping in Aberystwyth is great, the town has plenty of high street name retailers and local independent shops selling everything from clothing, food and music to gifts, souvenirs and partyware.

Aberystwyth is a university town, as such, it has a welcoming cosmopolitan atmosphere. Both students and visiting holidaymakers will be pleased to know that the town has lots of pubs to choose from, Aberystwyth also boasts a vibrant nightlife along with a fantastic selection of cafes, family restaurants and more formal dining establishments.

Aberystwyth is blessed with two beaches, South Beach and North Beach, these straddle the entrance to the town's marina which is spread over 23 acres and has 160 berths, each equipped with electricity and fresh water.

Situated above the town is Aberystwyth Golf Club, it has an 18-hole parkland course with excellent fairways and greens combined with some of the finest views in Wales.

As you make your way along the seafront promenade, you can't fail to miss Constitution Hill which rises dramatically over the Northern side of the town. You can make your way up to the summit of this herculean hill by use of the Aberystwyth Electric Cliff Railway, travelling at a steady 4 miles an hour, it effortlessly transports passengers up its 778 feet of undulating track. From the summit of Constitution Hill you can soak up splendid views of the town and of Cardigan Bay and on a clear day, Snowdon.

Another popular tourist attraction in Aberystwyth is The Magic of Life Butterfly House, here you can view some of the largest and most colourful butterflies in the world. The tropical house is home to a collection of 150 rare and unusual plants, including species of Passion Flowers, Bananas, Birthworts and Cannas.

We could hardly talk about Aberystwyth without mentioning one of its most popular tourist attractions, The Vale of Rheidol Railway. Passengers can just sit back and relax on this hour-long nostalgic train journey, as the narrow gauge steam locomotive chugs along at a steady pace from Aberystwyth, meandering through the picturesque Rheidol Valley and passing Rheidol Falls, ending up at Devil's Bridge village.
