Bangor Tourist Information
Home to the longest High Street in Wales!

Bangor is a small coastal city located in Northern Gwynedd, sited on the banks of, and offering splendid views of the Menai Strait. From the city, it's roughly nine miles to the royal town of Caernarfon and just over sixteen miles to the medieval town of Conwy.

Bangor is a university town, so it should come as no surprise when we say there are plenty of pubs and bars to visit. The city also has an excellent range of places to eat from cafes and restaurants to coffee bars, sandwich shops and takeaways serving cuisines from around the world.

The city boasts a thriving shopping scene, here you will find a good range of high street retailers as well as local independent shops. The shops can be found in Deiniol and Menai Shopping Centres and along Bangor's main High Street, reputed to be the longest high street in Wales.

For those who are looking for a pleasant, quiet escape, what could be better than a leisurely walk along Garth Pier, it's a Grade II listed structure which protrudes out into the Menai Strait, and at a length of 1,500 feet (460 m), it's the second-longest pier in Wales.

Overlooking the city and set in 120 acres is the renowned Bangor St Deiniol Golf Club, here golfers of all abilities are treated to a challenging round of golf on the club's 18-hole mature course that comes complete with panoramic views of Anglesey and Snowdonia.
