Montgomery Tourist Information
Montgomery is a delightful Georgian town located close to the border with England, about eight miles from Welshpool and just over nine miles from Newtown.

Montgomery town has a handful of shops and places to enjoy something to eat and drink.

Situated close to the Town Hall is the Old Bell Museum, formally a 16th-century inn, it has been converted into an eleven-roomed museum housing permanent exhibitions and displays about the ancient County Town of Montgomeryshire.

On Arthur Street inside the Montgomery Institute is the Cloverlands Model Car Museum, a real must-visit place for model car enthusiasts and children, this wonderful museum has over 2000 models on display.

Overlooking the town are the ruins of Montgomery Castle, a free to enter visitor attraction perched on a steep hill. There are plenty of information boards available that tell of Montgomery Castle's interesting history, in addition, the castle's elevated position provides exceptional views of the surrounding countryside on both the Welsh and English sides of the border.

A few miles outside the town lies Lakeside Golf Course, here golfers of all levels are able to enjoy a round on the club's 9-hole course which has contoured greens, undulating fairways, beautiful lakes and strategically placed bunkers.

The stunning countryside that surrounds Montgomery lends itself perfectly for those who enjoy walking and cycling, offering plenty of public footpaths for walkers and no less than five cycle routes which cover distances of 4 miles up to 22 miles.
