Penmaenmawr Tourist Information

Penmaenmawr is a charming coastal town perfectly positioned on North Wales' well-loved coastline, it is situated roughly five miles from the medieval town of Conwy and just over three miles from the charming Victorian style town of Llanfairfechan.

The town has a number of independently owned and run shops selling your everyday essentials, there are also several places to enjoy a good meal and a welcoming drink.

Penmaenmawr is blessed with a long beach (Penmaenmawr Beach) that is made up of sand further down and pebbles at the head of the beach, but as the tide heads out a long stretch of fun-filled sandiness is revealed which becomes the ideal playground for families with children, this beach also well-suited for a number of water-based sports like canoeing, windsurfing and sailing.

The beach is backed by a refurbished promenade with beautiful landscaped terraces and flower borders and comes with wonderful views across the Irish Sea to Anglesey and Puffin Island. Along its length, the prom comes with grassed areas, a cafeteria, amusement arcades, there are also beach chalets which can be hired for the day.

If you're planning a holiday in Penmaenmawr (why wouldn't you?) you'll find a host of activities on offer in and around the town from water-based pursuits like canoeing, windsurfing and sailing, to land-based recreational things to do such as walking, hiking and mountain biking.

Anglers can try their hand at a spot of sea fishing from Penmaenmawr Beach, if you're keen on fly fishing try Graiglwyd Springs. Set at the back of the town, Graiglwyd Springs is renowned as North Wales' premier large trout fishery with trout ranging from 2lb to 30lb.
