Tanygrisiau Tourist Information
Tanygrisiau is a village in the Ffestiniog Valley, it is ideally positioned only a mile from the popular town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and just under fourteen miles from the picture postcard village of Beddgelert.

Tanygrisiau is home to one of ten train stations located along the 13½-mile long narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway, a wonderful return steam train ride that journeys through the picturesque landscape of Snowdonia National Park from Porthmadog Harbour Station to the delightful former slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

If you're into fishing you'll find plenty of rivers and lakes in the Ffestiniog Valley, on the edge of the village lies Tanygrisiau Lake which offers good fishing for rainbow and brown trout.

Centrally located in Snowdonia National Park, the area around the village abounds in delightful walks. Tanygrisiau provides a good starting point for walkers wishing to head off up into 'The Moelwyns', walking up these two impressive mountains involves a steep ascent to the top but the views are well worth the effort. Moelwyn Mawr is the highest of these mountains and offers the most impressive views, the smaller but still imposing Moelwyn Bach mountain also provides walkers with breathtaking views.
