Ystradgynlais Tourist Information
Ystradgynlais is a quaint town which lies just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park, located roughly twenty-one miles from Merthyr Tydfil and just under fifteen miles from Swansea City.

Ystradgynlais has a number of shops to browse around along with two major supermarkets, there are also public houses and a selection of eateries around the town.

The River Tawe which passes through the town boasts some excellent fishing, with healthy numbers of salmon and sea trout, along with brown trout (permits are required to fish this stretch of the river).

With the Brecon Beacons so close at hand it means there are plenty of walking opportunities within the national park, as well as walks in the Craig-y-nos Country Park - A lush 40-acre Victorian garden with shady woodlands, meadows, ponds, lazy lawns and rushing rivers.

Just above the town lies the Cwm Giedd Forest where walkers will find a number of trails, some of which go on to join walks that head off into the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The magnificent Henrhyd Falls is only a ten-minute drive from Ystradgynlais, it is the highest waterfall in South Wales. A walk from the National Trust car park near Coelbren heads down a steep path into a wooded valley, across a bridge and up steps to arrive at the '90 feet (27m) Henrhyd Falls'.
